Papillon Mix , A Dog Named After Butterflies

Who would ever have thought that there would be a dog named after a butterfly? However the papillion mix of dog is named after the French word for butterfly. Its name comes from the flapping wings of the butterfly that the dog’s ears resemble to some degree. A fun an unique name to say the least.

This dog breed is one of the oldest breeds of dogs. They have been known to exist for over 700 years. The development of the dog breed has been traced over the years from their inclusion in many of the famous paintings during the Renaissance period.

If you are looking for a new furry friend and wouldn’t mind someone keeping an eye on you and your home then the papillon mix would make a perfect choice. The fluffy and beautiful dog is a wonderful companion and despite its small size is ferocious in protecting the home front. While the dog may appear rather dainty, the breed is a strong one. Many say that this breed is a big dog in a small dog’s body. Able to take long walks up to five miles and with their strong athletic abilities and agility, the papillion is able to be a great playmate for children and adults as well. In dog competitions and events, it is this breed that has excelled at events such as dog agility where they have to run through tunnels, do jumps and cross bridges.

The papillion mix is also a good watch dog. However, if they live in an apartment it might be a problem since they are known to bark at noises and anything that sounds threatening which might be a problem with neighbors.
When it comes to health issues this breed has less than a number of other breeds. One potential issue is with their kneecaps and similar to a baby’s soft spot. The soft spot may heel with time or need to be protected.

If you want a breed of dog that is odorless and rather easy to care for, the papillion mix can make a great choice. While it does need some grooming you do not have to worry about dog smells throughout your house.
The king charles spaniel is a delightful pet and family friend to have and enjoy over the years. If you are looking for a new family pet, it is a breed that is well worth checking out.
